Should I Use the Decline Bench?

Have you ever noticed that guys who can bench press a decent amount of weight, typically can lift less on incline, but more on the decline? Have you ever noticed that most bodybuilders typically want excellent mid & upper pecs, but rarely ever talk about the lower portion of this muscle? That’s because there’s little to no muscle in the lower portion of the pec. It’s also because the decline bench is really an ego exercise more than anything else. It’s basically the leg press of chest. I’ve seen guys decline bench 315 who can barely flat bench 225. Some of these same guys could barely move 205 on the incline.
The key to building a great chest is key exercises: flat bench, incline bench, cable crossovers & pec dec to rep out at the end. Chest, like abs & arms, will always be one of the most sought after muscle to showcase. Don’t get caught up in the numbers game, the shouts, or the carrying-on at the gym.
