Cravings: Give into them

We all have cravings. Sometimes it’s our body’s natural way of telling us we need to supplement a very much needed mineral, such as Potassium, Sodium (or salt), Magnesium, Iron, or Phosphorus; which is important for bone and teeth health.
Potassium is essential for removal of toxins and to deliver nutrients throughout your body. Magnesium is important for a healthy immune system, which helps fight all those nasty bugs and stops you from getting sick. Iron is important for the production of red blood cells, transports oxygen throughout your body, and assists with healthy bones and muscles. And if you are having some muscle cramping before, during or after a workout, you are probably a bit low in Sodium. Talk to your physician if you feel you might have a mineral depletion. It is important to consult your MD before adding any supplements to your diet.
We can all benefit and find these important nutrients in lean meats, chicken, turkey and vegetables. For those with special medical conditions, such as heart disease or kidney disease, low sodium intake may be a part of your regular diet. So, talk to your doctor for other ways to supplement this essential mineral.
