Clubs, Bars, & the Spirits that Kill Muscle
Clubs, Bars, & the Spirits that Kill Muscle

Drinking socially is fine. Smoking socially is fine. Both of these habits are fine – for non-athletes!! If you’re on a mission to building a great physique, do you really want to inhale carcinogens or put your liver through stress? A few beers here or there are ok, but if you’re downing shots & chain smoking cigarettes at the bar, do you honestly think that’s not ever going to catch up with you in the gym? Muscleheads need strong lungs to get through cardio sessions. Athletes need primed livers to process all the supplements & continue to live a healthy, quality life.
Smoking has become largely anti-social, it’s not even considered rebellious anymore. I still remember videos of Markus Ruhl smoking outside the supermarket. The idea of a top bodybuilder lighting up, had a certain allure to it, but nowadays, most people would look at that spectacle & simply nod their heads in pity.
But listen, I’m not advocating against smoking simply because of what people may or may not say – I could honestly care less what anyone has to say about me, but the bottom line is, we’re all after creating a better body, better health, & longevity. No matter how many excellent supplements you may take from Tokkyo Nutrition, no matter how organic your food may be, or how much Evian water you drink, if you’re drinking hard alcohol & smoking cigarettes to the point of excess, then you’re going to sabotage your efforts in the gym.
