Clean Eating Has A Place
by Christian Duque
We often find that many people in the weight-lifting world are obsessed with training and supplements. We, here at Tokkyo Nutrition, are beyond ecstatic at how well received our products are; however, one of of our biggest concerns, is that each athlete reach their optimal physical abilities. The only way to reach this milestone, is through having the training, the supplements, AND the diet. As the old saying goes, ‘you are what you eat,’ so if you subsist on “junk food,” then you are sabotaging your gains. Remember, supplements like Tokkyo’s BCAA Stack and Tokkyo Protein will help with intra-workout nutrition and post-workout recovery, but the macro and micro nutrients you get from whole foods is an absolute must-have! You wouldn’t join a cheap gym or use cheap supps – we know this – but shouldn’t this extend to what you eat?
For example, there’s nothing wrong with buying off-brands. A can of spinach from Company X is usually just as good as that from Company Y. Typically, both companies get produce from the same farm, largely because many companies have their products canned at the same facility. That having been said, let’s throw a curve ball into the mix. As opposed to picking between two canned goods, why not buy fresh? Fresh spinach can be eaten in a variety of ways, from raw to steamed, and it tastes delicious! Chances are, you’ll save money, while eating delicious foods. Sometimes thinking outside the box, is the ticket to saving and eating tastier foods.
There are several things sound nutrition contributes to, from hormonal balance, to anti-inflammation properties, to muscle recovery and growth. Portion sizes, timing (when you eat), and even how many times you chew your food before ingesting, are all areas we could easily spend an entire day discussing. For now, I think we can all agree that nutrition represents a huge part of success for an athlete and everyone who uses our supplements should definitely take that into account.
