And what about women?

And what about women?
by Marylin Salgado
Yes, the world of weight lifting is mostly lead by men, but what about women who are interested in not only being fit, but adding a few pounds of muscle weight?
Some of us have started in our 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s; or even later in life. There is no real age to get started with weight lifting, which is accomplished with proper nutrition, great products and off course, a regular exercise routine. Young bodies may accomplish more a lot sooner, but middle aged women need not feel intimidated by young bodies at the gym. We all have the potential to improve at any age.
You can start with simple exercises, adding 5 pound ankle weights or 10 pound dumb bells. In the beginning, the trick is not in heavy weights, but in the amount of sets and repetitions, which help you to start building muscle and gain resistance. Technique is also very important and will avoid any work out injuries. Drink plenty of fluids and slowly start incorporating protein into your diet. A fitness bar is a good start, so are the protein shakes. Tokkyo Nutrition offers a delicious protein! Remember, you also gain protein by eating beans, peanut butter and red meats. For those that are vegetarian or vegan, legumes are also a great source of protein.
